High School Senior Project: Swarm Bots!

Hi, I'm planning to make a set of 6-15 swarm bots for my senior project.

You can follow my progress in detail here, but I also plan to periodicly update this page too.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://community.robotshop.com/robots/show/high-school-senior-project-swarm-bots

good luck with this

Here is a link to a simple design for swarmbots which may allow you to have the quantity you’d like. http://warrantyvoidifremoved.com/formica

Of course they are using the ti msp430 processor but I thought the idea could be adapted to an avr processor or any other. Check it out there is heaps of information and ideas on this website including a 40 min video presentation where he explains the capabilities of his swarm and ideas for improvement which included wireless.

I like this setup a lot. I didn’t consider pager motors before, but they seem like the way to go.

Also, the h-bridge setup seems easier.

I’m glad this was useful

This idea does seem a very economical way to create a swarm. There’s a lot of good ideas implemented like the way they recharge their batteries and upgrade their software.

I have seen other implementations like this one http://www.swarmrobot.org/tiki-index.ph

which is very interesting reading as well. But the formica bots win on price per bot and have heaps of features implemented. I look forward to seeing your implementation of swarm robots. It’s an interesting area and you are lucky to have an advisor as such.

Hi Alex, thanks for joining, and swam is cool

However please read the rules (top menu), and do not post robots when you have nothing to show yet. (Post blog entries till then)

You can edit this (top), and you can save as draft(bottom) so it does not enter our front page.

Thanks, and welcome as a member
