High Lift sUAS with computer based control

I am working on a series of High Payload capacity drone builds. the exterior of the drones will be ducted. Biggest thing i am struggling with is the guts as the last time i did a custom Unmanned aerial vehicle the interior was a great deal more simplified.

I know I need Electric speed controls for each motor and a power management system I don’t remember what they are called.
Also know i need a radio link and a control board. I am considering using a 3dr pixhawk the challenge i am about to run into is i want to use my mac for the controller. And the software I have for this uses ports like an Internet-server namely the UGcS software. The system i am using to test out the concept is a complex two separate unites to handle video and telemetry. I want it where i use one single connection and I do not want to have a separate smart device to control part of the functions as I do now. As i do drone work professional I would like to tie in my hand held flight radio and intercom system if possible but I can work on that with a separate device. the third challenge is i want the control interface to provide GPS to eventually update the nth dynamically. and be able to ad peripherals like lights and anti collision sensors at various parts along with ads-b transponder capabilities using most likely a Ping transponder

Any help with a shopping list and thoughts on the controls for the Ground station would be most welcome.

Hi docbucey,

This is far from a simple DIY hobby grade system but we would suggest looking at the various “ArduPilot” systems that have been made.
ArduPilot Choosing a Ground Station

There are products made for long range telemetry / video / control out there like the Digital Micro Devices XLRS systems.
