Hex mounting Hub, 12mm Hex, 6mm shaft

Hi, new here, but just wanted to drop a line in about the Lynxmotion 12mm Hex hub.

I have just been supplied with a pair of these hubs by Active Robots in the UK, for a project I am currently working on, however, upon opening the package , I found the shaft mounting hole, which is supposed to fit a 6mm shaft, has been machined to a size just over 1/4", and as such, completely useless for the 6mm shaft it was designed and advertised to fit.

Is this a possible one-off mistake at the machinists, which can be easily resolved by exchanging the current ones for correctly machined ones, or are they all the same, and should be considered as one-size-fits-all and not the 6mm they are supposed to be?

Sorry to moan about otherwise great products, but this has set the project back indefinitely.

Yours, Matt.

Hi Matt,

First, Welcome to the Lynxmotion forum.

The HUB-12 sold by Lynxmotion are advertised to be made with a 6mm bore but they are manufactured with a slight tolerance to be sure they fit most motor shafts.
Part are manufactured at 0.245" bore from the supplier, so the measure you took is the right one.

Those are intend to be used with RC wheels so tolerances are not an issue.
Once screwed the 0.223mm of play shouldn’t be noticable on such application.

What do you use the HUB-12 for ?
