HerkuleX Servo DRS-0101 Firmware Update Failed

Just wondering if there is a way to recover from a failed firmware update, on the DRS-0101.
I was trying to update Version 0.90 with firmware_drs_basic_v127(20130604).HEX file.
Used HerkuleX Manager Version 1.4

The Update started but I did not see any progress. Now the servo is not discovered when the “Connect” button is pressed. I have a second servo that works and is discovered.

Is there any way to restore the firmware to the servo?

Thanks for the info, just in-case there is no solution, we have ordered a replacement.

Hi Phil,

We received a response from the manufacturer: it seems you might have been trying to put the wrong firmware on your DRS-0101 servo… Here’s their full response:

Please be advised that firmware_drs_basic_v127(20130604).HEX file is the firmware for DRC controller(MPSU), not for servo motor.

Also, file name should be corrected to drc_basic_v127(20130604).HEX.

If we understood correctly, the customer tried to update the firmware of servo(DRS-0101) using the firmware of DRC-005T controller. Is this correct?

You can follow instructions below to repair the firmware.

How to update the firmware of HerkuleX.

] Download the latest servo firmware from Dongbu guide site at hovis.co.kr/guide/herkulex/drs-0101/firmware_HerkuleX.zip./:m]
] Connect the servo with your PC using HerkuleX manager kit or DRC-005T MPSU./:m]
] Open “HerkuleX manager” software./:m]
] Click “Connect” button to connect the servo with software./:m]
] Go to “Driver” tab and click hex file “open” button./:m]
] Open servo firmware you downloaded./:m]
] Select “Update” button.

To make sure, user can do following to set the servo into factory default condition.

] Select “Setting” button./:m]
] Initialization set-up è “Rollback” click è “Reset” click/:m]
] Firmware update for servo has been completed.

We’re not familiar with this particular problem, so we have contacted the manufacturer to ask them for their recommendations. We will let you know as soon as we get a reply.
