Hennkwell PK22G2150-104

Hi,

I am using two Hennkwell PK22G2150 (104:1) gearmotors to power a reasonably heavy (~3lbs) robotic ball (size about 350mm diameter), the bot is only designed to rove around on flat surfaces so I’m not too worried about torque and since this is a prototype I accept that it will move slowly.

My question is, the PK22G2150 is rated to 12v. How close can I get to this number, and if at all possible by how much would I be able to exceed it safely. I’d hate to have a rerun of a servo nightmare i recently had…

flames…

melting plastic…

it was horrific i tell you…

If its an actual gearhead motor, you can overvolt it at about 2v safely, 4V MAX. This can be done by soldering these two batteries in series to get 14.4V. I’ve been doing this with 12v motors for two years and never had a problem.
