Hi, im new to the fourm and robotics. I think i have chosen a way to start out in the hobby. It will be the tracked base that Lynxmotion has along with an arm. But here is the reason for the topic, i don’t know what arm, bords, and other stuff to get like that. so could some one make me a list of stuff i will need Please.
O.K. here is another thing i need help with. can i take the arm put it on the track base and get it to work properly i thought that a tracked base and an arm would be the best way to start. then i could add other bords and upgrades like that. So some one please help me.
Also, how hard would it be to do the tracked base and arm to be controled with a PS2 controler. what stuff would i need to do that.
Well thats all i have to say so PLEASE someone post on this topic.
If you were nice you could post some links to some tutorials on robotics.
You will need batteries and chargers, things like that. There are some tutorials for putting an arm on a rover base. They are based on the old 4WD1 chassis but the principles still apply. The tutorials even include working code for controlling the robot base and arm all from the PS2 controller. lynxmotion.com/images/html/build085.htm
Note this tutorial actually follows these tutorials. lynxmotion.com/images/html/build065.htm lynxmotion.com/images/html/build066.htm
This is a lot of information to grasp and you will have questions, but we are here to help.
im sorry to bother you again but here is a list of questions
1 are the basic atom and basic atom pro processors the same?
2 if i wanted to moun a camera such as a webcam or something like that how hard would that be?
3 what is possible with the sensors that Lynxmotion sells on their website. like the Tracker Sensor, Sharp GP2D12 IR Sensor, Ping Ultrasonic Range Sensor, Ultrasonic Range Sensor, and the accelerometers
thanks for the list, im sure it will be a great help
i just looked at the tutorials and on the when you bring up the code in the internet browser do i just copy and paste in to notepad or wordpad or some program like that.
The Pro is faster and has more program memory, but unfortunately the tutorials and code were written for the Atom. The big reason I am suggesting the Atom is the Bot Board currently can’t be used with the Pro for the PS2 robot controller.
I’m not sure about the webcam, so i will pass on that.
Any of the sensors could be implements with code changes, however the existing code already supports the GP2D12 used as an obsticle detector. If you try to drive the robot into the wall it will cause the PS2 controller to vibrate and disable forward motion from the controller.
Save the program to your hard drive. Then you down load the free Atom programming application. They call it an IDE, Integrated Development Environment. That program is what you use to get our basic programs into the Atom chip. www.basicmicro.com
cool i have loved robotic ever since i was a child. started with the classic robo duo r2-d2 and c3-po. any way i will probaly experiment with a web cam ant try to get it th conect to the computer via blue tooth or something like that would be cool. might be beter to start with the basics befor going all out and doing stuff like that.
If your robot is going to be RC with the PS2 controller then the easiest way to get video back to you is with inexpensive 2.4ghz wireless video transmitters. Check it out… lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?t=2526&start=0
