Help with Electronics please

I’m wishing to purchase the Devastator tank base to start my first robot kit. I would like to use a standard transmitter and receiver (not Arduino or raspberry pi) coupled with a motor controller. I’m a complete beginner at this and it’s the electronics I find a bit confusing! I’m assuming the two motors need to be coupled to a dual motor controller, which is then coupled to the receiver. (Channels used depending on which stick I want to assign to that channel). Batteries to power the whole unit (6v) including the controller to include a BEC to power the receiver.

Are these components compatible that I’ve selected from the Robotshop:

RadioLink T8FB 2.4GHz 8CH Transmitter w/ R8EF 8CH Receiver

Scorpion Mini Dual 6.5A 6V to 28V R/C DC Motor Driver

Thanks for any help!

Hello @ScrewLoose2 and welcome to the RobotShop forum!

I’m assuming the two motors need to be coupled to a dual motor controller, which is then coupled to the receiver.

You are absolutely right, the only thing I would like to add to that is that you should choose your motor controller according to the specifications of your motors. You may have already considered this, but in case you haven’t, this may help you:

Batteries to power the whole unit (6v) including the controller to include a BEC to power the receiver.

If you need help with that this might be useful:

Yes, you can use them together without any problem.

I hope that helps, let me know if you need more help!

Thank you very much. That’s most helpful!

I’ll definitely be asking more questions as I get more into my project.
