Help with BR-NS HUB-08 compatibility

Is the HUB-08 component compatible with the base unit BR-NS? My goal is the attach an aluminum tube to the rotating base.

Two options. File the end of the hub-08 flat and mount it direct, or use this 1/4" spacer to allow mounting the hub to the top without filing anything.
