After hours of design and some wooden prototype parts, I am almost ready to get some of the parts for my robot manufactured. My plan is to buy the tracks and related parts from Lynxmotion. Now the only thing I need to figure out is the “brains”. Maybe this is something you guys and gals could help me with?
Essentially I need to be able to move the robot and would like to have a camera on it; and control it over the internet/network.
There seem to be some parts I have found, that may work, but maybe somebody has some recommendations and experience they can share.
The easiest way to go for brains, would be using the Botboard IIequipped with a Basic Atom Pro 28.
Depending on the size, you’ll probably want to pair it up with a 2x10A motor controller such as the RoboClaw 2x10A.
For wireless network and internet connectivity i’d suggest The Roving Networks RN-121 or RN-134. Which sell for $70 and $100 respectively.
They are able to access websites directly, or can be accessed by some terminal software.
The advantage to these is they output Serial for easy interfacing.
As for a camera that can be accessed over the net, the easiest way to go would be to use a WIFI IP Camera.
IP cameras usually cost around $100 USD, and are easy to use.
Get a pan/tilt kit here on Lynxmotion for a more mobile camera.
You could create a program that could access the IP camera’s feed from your remote computer, as well as access the serial to the WiFly adapter, giving you control over the bot.
I see no reason why this all can’t be done in FlowStone, which you can find here on the forums.
