Help upgrading an old pan and tilt system

I bought this plastic geared pan and tilt system (model SPT400?) from ServoCity in 2006. It appears to have a pair of modified HS-425BB servos that wire to external potentiometers to sync the servo with continuous rotation? The tilt servo internal gears have stripped as well as the shaft gear. I like this unit but was wondering if I could do an overhaul and remove the HS-425BB’s disconnecting the wires and go with a beefier servo that has continuous rotation and will give this pan & tilt system smooth movement with a bit more torque. Looking for advice on the the right servos to buy and some background on external wiring (where these custom made or sold at some point?)

Hi @jeffdavis503 and welcome to our forum.

It does look like a modified SPT400 system:

I’ve never seen these modified servos sold anywhere.

If you want to return to original ones, you can find these here:

But if you want stronger ones, you can search our current servo database:

I guess you would have to pay attention to the size of the servos that can fit this setup?
