Help! Unable to calibrate cat sensor after replacement

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

*Description
Cat sensor was replaced along with DFI And anti-pinch sensors. The litter robot is now blinking slow yellows

Hardware concerned:
Cat sensor for LR 3

Software concerned:

Troubleshooting steps already taken:
I have uninstalled cat sensor, adjusted screw numerous times, check anti-pinch to ensure they are touching, cannot seem to get the cat sensor calibrated so it does not stop and blink yellow

Additional information:
Several times after adjusting and having the machine off, it will turn on and do a full cycle and go to ready (solid blue) then it will start flashing yellow out of no where. And that is where I get stuck over and over.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

I wanted to add. I have read every post and seen any available video about this issue and I have tried everything suggested.
My biggest issue is the bolt/nut on the sensor. what is the best way to adjust it? I have tried having the bolt 1mm above the nut to longer and everything in between. There must be something I am missing.
The globe just started to cycle but it stops then starts again.

Hello @karen2829,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Please provide us with your order number or a copy of the invoice.

This issue is coming from the bonnet and its connection with the base.

Please test if the night light is interrupting your cycle. Cover the light sensor which is located under the power button. If the night light turns on and the cycle is interrupted, then your bonnet needs to be replaced.

It is possible that the night-light is not even working, in this case, please remove the power from the robot and unclip the bonnet. Inside the bonnet, you will see 2 wires connected to a small circuit. Make sure the wires are well connected to the circuit.

If that is working fine, then the problem is probably with the connection between the base and the bonnet. Have a look at this video: Litter-Robot 3 Stops Mid-Cycle - YouTube

Also, there are two connection metal pins between the base and bonnet. Some customers use WD-40 to clean them to make better contact:

You can also try to deactivate the nightlight using this blog while pointing your phone’s flashlight at the light sensor located above the “Cycle” button:

Please tell us how this goes.

Sincerely,

Hu Ebram

Thank you for your reply. I bought this LR3 almost 5 years ago so totally out of warranty

Just confirmed The nightlight is not on at all. Also prior to me changing the cat sensor and DFI, I was not having this problem at all. I have checked the clips on both the base and bonnet and they are clean.
Could I have done something while I was changing the cat sensor or dfi which caused this?

I am thinking maybe I moved something when taking it apart? I am grasping at straws at this point.

Any guidance is appreciated. The LR was off and just turned it back on and it got stuck here until I power off/on again then it finished the cycle.
But then the moment a cat goes in, it gets stuck again :frowning:

Something just happened…

So the cycle finished and it went to solid blue. No cats entered the globe but out of no where it just started blinking yellow. Between the solid blue and the yellow blinking it was about 5-6min.

Hello @Karen2829 ,

Thank you for your reply.

This issue indicates a problem with the connection between the bonnet and the base or the nightlight’s connection.

We need to see the contact pins of the base and bonnet.

You also need to check the 2 wires connected to the nightlight’s circuit board.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,
