Hi! I have zero experience with any of this but am trying to complete a project. I have a soda machine that Is just for looks. But I would like to be able to set up some sort of simple gripper to hold one can that I can connect to one of the buttons on the soda machine to release it directly in the tray to make it seem as though it works. I need some sort of very simple setup to make this work. A simple gripper and whatever I need to power it. Can any of you experts help me figure out a simple setup to accomplish what I’m trying to do. I literally have no idea what I need. A servo Of some sort at least I’m guessing. Thanks!
@Corey Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Something like this?
… or this?
The servo motor and controller are sold separately, and you need to use a standard sized Hitec or Futaba servo like:
Regarding button control however, servos take a repeated position command which a button doesn’t provide. A work-around would be to convert the linear motion of a button to the rotation of a knob:
Last, you’ll need to power it at 5V or 6V DC.
Normally press and release type grippers use a magnetic solenoid, but since there is not much demand for this in the hobby robotics market, RobotShop doesn’t carry any (nor have we really seen any on the market).
