Hello!
First, I apologize for all of my recent forum posts. I am very new to robotics and have virtually no experience with this stuff.
I need help choosing a pan/tilt kit and servos. I need to be able to support and move a payload of up to 1 pound (.45 kg). Is the Lynxmotion Aluminum Pan and Tilt Kit sufficient? I had my doubts since it seemed to be used primarily for small cameras and sensors. Could you make some other recommendations? If the servos aren’t included, what torque would I need for something like this?
Thanks!!
That unit comes with two Hitec 422 servos. The issue is not necessarily the weight but the torque (force x distance). Can you tell us the distance from the tilt axis at which you want to mount the load? For example the 422 can provide 4.1Kg-cm of torque, which in your application means that the load would need to be placed at most 9cm away from the axis of rotation (0.45kg x 9cm = 4.1Kg-cm).
Torque = Force x Distance
Some manufacturers use “mass” instead of “force” but the equation really should use force
Distance = distance between that force (usually center of mass) to the axis of rotation.
