Help a college student out!

Hey guys,

For my sociology class in College I need to write a paper on “Sociology of Media.” I have decided to make a little interview/survey as one, or more, of my sources.

If you do not live in the United States, I would greatly appreciate it if you took a few minutes from your day and answered these few simple questions. If I choose to include your interview I will PM you for your first, and last name (required for a citation of an interview).

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you choose to answer this short questionnaire. For those who are in the US, if you know anyone in another country I would appreciate it if you let them know about this thread .

Please try to answer in a few full sentences. 2-5+ would be perfect, unless otherwise specified.

1) What country and city do you live in? (A single sentence or few word answer is acceptable)

2) Do you use the media in your country? If so, what types of media do you use? (Radio, newspapers, TV news, etc)

3) If you were to turn on the TV, or read a newspaper, what type of things would you expect to see? Are there stories about criminal acts that have taken place?

4) Do you think that the type of information people receive from the media affects their behavior or thinking? (Please explain)

5) What do you think is contributing the high amount of crime in the United States?

6) Would you say your country has a lot of crime? If so, what type of acts?

Feel free to either post your answers here, or PM it to me if it contains stuff you don’t want others to see. The questions above are already in bold so just quote this post and cut out the questions

I would like this before Tuesday of this week so that I can have time to look through them and add it to my paper.

If you choose to answer the above questions, I will be very thankful  I can’t offer free stuff if you help me out, but if I am selling something, or wish to donate a prize to someone I’ll keep you in mind.

Thanks,
-robodude666

Check PM… Hope that’s what you were after.

  1. I live in the Philippines, province of Cavite
  2. Yup, we use media. Radio, TV, newspapers and the internet.
  3. Well every time I watch the TV or turn on the radio, I always expect to see news about politics. News about criminal acts are always present.
  4. Yes, absolutely. For example, in a recent news here, a former (high ranking) political official that was found guilty of plunder finally asked for a presidential pardon. During the years his case was on the trials, he strongly emphasized the he will never ever ask for any pardon, heck, he doesn’t even accept the authority of the current president. However, his actions now clearly say that he has taken back all that he has said. Some of his supporters were very disappointed because of that. Most of them turned their backs on the said official and have withdrawn their support.
  5. I dunno about the US, but in the Philippines, poverty and hunger are the number one causes of crimes.
  6. Yes, mostly (as have said earlier) rooting from poverty, hunger and lack of money. Some of them include robbery/theft, kidnap for ransom, and in worst cases, murder.
