Having trouble operating Dobot Magician

I have a new Dobot Magician. I have connected as per the included instructions. Installed the Studio and drivers. Connected via USB to HP laptop ruining windows 11. Connected to Dobot with connect button on dashboard. Updated firmware. And that is as far as I am able to get. I have power cycled. Checked all connections. Tried again. Nothing works. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Was this robot bought from RobotShop?

When you say nothing works, you mean robot is not moving?

Did you try loading any sample programs?

Yes, my Dobot will not move even though it appears to be connected to the dashboard.

I did not try to load any programs. My original plan was to first learn to control the Dobot with the dashboard and/or handheld remote controller and then, after I have everything communication and working, branch out into programming etc.

I feel I am missing something simple yet very important. Do you have any suggestions of tutorials on the initial setting up and connecting of the Dobot?

I am now able to connect my Dobot to my laptop…but no matter what I do, I am unable to control the arm. Part of my issue is that all the text on the Dobot dashboard is almost microscopic. Is there any way to change this to a more comfortable scale so I am able to read the instructions without needing to use my smartphone as a magnifying glass?

My most basic need at the moment is getting the Magician to work with the USB game controller so my students will be able to control it manually. Do you have links to any tutorials and/or suggestions how I can make this happen?

I have also noticed that when I have the Dobot connected to my laptop via USB, the indicator light is not illuminated - this does not seem to be a nominal situation.

When Dobot is connected to the studio and I click the “home” button, nothing happens.

I have deleted all Dobot files, then reinstalled them back on the laptop - same thing…nothing.

Maybe I have a defective unit…or I am the one that is defective.

Use these procedures to troubleshoot Dobot Magician connection problems:

Verify the USB connection and experiment with an other cord.

  1. Update Dobot Studio and reinstall drivers.

  2. Restart Dobot Studio, then attempt to connect once more.

  3. Use the Mcuisp utility to burn the firmware.

  4. Examine the Dobot Magician light to make sure it is detected. For more help, get in touch with Dobot customer service if these methods don’t fix the problem. For more help, get in touch with Dobot customer service if these steps aren’t successful.
