Have you done the "Leg Lights" Mod?

Hi everyone,
I have some questions for those of you that have built the CH3-R Hexapod and have done Jim’s “Leg Lights” Mod
( lynxmotion.com/images/html/build119.htm )

  1. Did you wire the LED’s as pictured in the guide and homerun them to the power source, or did you do a series / parallel setup and go leg to leg to leg?

  2. Did you wire the LED’s to a relay, etc… and control them from the BotBoard II, or just to the power switch so they are on when the bot is on?

Any pictures / build info would be appreciated – I got the LED’s today, and will start this mod tonight, and would love to hear from those of you that have done it, “Good, Bad, and Uglyâ€

I hope it’s ok if I chime in. lol

I didn’t want to limit the brightness (current draw) of the LED’s to the Bot Boards 5vdc regulator, so I ran the power directly to the servo voltage input on the SSC-32. So the LED’s come on when the servo power switch is turned on. The LED’s current is 20mA, so the 6 of them draw 120mA. Using 6vdc as the supply voltage, 2.2vdc as the LED voltage (VF) and 20mA as the current (IF) the appropriate current limiting resistor should be 220 ohms. Hope this helps…

Thanks Jim!
