Halloween Animatronics

Not sure how many folks out there are interested in Animatronics, but I have been stepping up my robotics/electronics abilities in the hopes to scare children and adults alike!

I would love to get some comments/suggestions on the current projects if anyone is up for it.

Some highlights:

The New Basic Atom Pro 40 – runs at 20 MHZ 120,000 Plus Basic instructions per second!
Visual Basic interface with MP3 player, database timeline recorder and serial communication protocol
Pneumatic valve control
PICAxe feedback loop for servo like operation of Pneumatic valves and cylinders

Dude! What do you think? We’re always in for some cool animatronics project! 8)

Please join the club and keep us updated! We love to see the progress on this guy.

ps. I love the picture from ‘Bucky in the box’

Thought I would drop a line with some pics.

Here he is, with a new base for the next few steps…

I didn’t sleep much the other night. Worked late on the design and then got up early to start fabricating.

After cutting I laid all the pieces out, really just to take a picture…

Next step is to add some servos and start programming a demo on the Basic Atom!

Some of the original welds had to be moved around a bit. I took old Boris up to Kenny’s place for a quick welding session…

Hooked up the Atom and built a test program… HServo is a little funky!

His neck is a little wobbly but I think we are on the way!

Hope you guys like what we are doing… Let me know at bmfrobots.com/blog/!

Thanks!

Where did you get the plastic skeleton? Nice work. 8)

Are you sure it’s plastic?

Alan KM6VV

I would guess he got it from the Skeleton Factory. It’s a real place…
You can check it out at skeleton-factory.com/
Also, Google for “Bucky Bones”; you’ll get many interesting pages.
I have purchased my fair share of bones and skeletons from them. :smiling_imp:

Skeleton-Factory.com is right. This guy is a Bucky 4th grade. They were the most cost effective place to get them that we found!

They have lots of fun stuff there!

It is a PVC like material, cuts with a hack saw really nicely, drills like butter and as I found out the other night a table grinder makes short work of those bits you don’t want around…
