I just want to be able to control a car that has a 3G data card in it and drive it at least 2km.
Can someone list me the parts which can be quickly slapped together so I can get going immediately? Thanks!

Hi @n1tro,
Controlling a robot via GPRS, with a SIM Card would be quite tedious. You have to consider that you will need an active subscriptions to a 3G provider and the data will take some time to reach the robot, because of the network.
You can find an instructables on GPRS module here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Control-the-relays-via-GPRS-SMS/
If you are looking to control a robot via long distance, we would suggest you to go with another communication type, such as LoRa.
I will look up LoRa as I have no idea what that is. As for 3G taking time to reach the robot…I can see if it was just GSM ie. 2G speeds, but 3G should be sufficient? Before LTE, people were doing face chats alright(?).
I ended up ordering a Padbot T1 to fiddle with. With the phone that is on the Padbot set to 3G and running their app, I hoping to connect via web browser and send the thing on its way. If that works, it is just a matter of expanding the fuel supply to go long distance is my thought.
