Gripping force of these two grippers?

Hello!

I was just wondering how these grippers compare in gripping force:

And to those who have these grippers:

  1. Which ones do you have?
  2. How hard can they “pinch” you?
  3. Which servos are you using to power them?
  4. The second gripper says it uses a:

Which is a micro servo. Will a standard servo not fit?

I’m hoping to create a robotic claw capable of grasping foot long pieces of 0.75" tall aluminum I-beams. I’ll probably have to modify the claw with an attachment that creates a “negative” of the cross section of the I-beam so that the claw can get a good hold of the beam.

Thanks

For the I-beams you describe, you probably want some sort of flat gripping surface as opposed to rounded fingers, or if you are gripping from the top, perhaps folding fingers that can curl under and grab the inside of the beam, perhaps 2 of the gripper sections from this kit lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=88
Assuming your breams are less than an inch wide, I’d say go with the little gripper. As for pinching power, that depends on the servo you throw into it. Hope this helps!
