Gripper problem

Hi,

I actually get a project which consist to build a CD chooser using a lynxmotion arm, the arm should be able to take the CD by the center, is any triple gripper vacuum available, or a gripper which can take a CD by the center ?

i take it that the CDs will remain flat while being picked up. i mean the option (if available) would be to have a standard gripper that can grasp the CD from its edge.

how is the CD going to be “loaded” into the the player? does the CD side into the player like a Car stereo or will it be place on a tray? will it need pushing down on to the spindle?

if you are placing it onto a spindle then my guess that a “center” gripper would make problems.
you could certainly expand the Vacuum gripper available from lynxmotion to have 3 suction pads.

I actually need a gripper to put the CD in horizontal position, which can be use for a standart CD reader (computer) by putting by the top; or new generation reader (PS3) in a horizontal movement.

I definitively need a 3 vacuum gripper, but I have’nt seen that in arm robot products. What do you mean by extand lynxmotion vacuum ? Can I ask a special gripper from lynmotion ?

lets look at the kit offered by lynxmotion:

all you would need to do would be to get a four way pipe connector so the suction is shared between three suction pads.

We do not have plans to make a 3 suction pad gripper, but it might be a pretty cool project. For now I will see if we can add the suction cups and bulkhead fittings to the website. :smiley:

To be honnest I don’t understand what do you mean by bulkhead fitting, I can’t translate in french :slight_smile: Anyway I’ll try to do the vacuum using your already existing stuffs.

I’ll post my project when it will be done ( in May :wink:)

Bulkhead fitting is a tubing fitting that has threads for mounting. :wink:

Bulkhead fittings are used on ships (and submarines!) to pass a pipe or cable through a bulkhead (wall), and allow a compartment (room) to be sealed.
