Hi, i need help in choosing a kit for my 13 year old cousin. I am not familiar with this, but I know he has Lego NXT, from what i know, he can build many with sensor or something with it. However, the programming part, he is only in the beginning. I want to know is robotics use the same programming as the lego? She he start with OLLO Inventor Kit or can he get the intermediate kits because of his knowledge with lego kit? If lego can be integrated into robotics, which ones should he purchase to add to his lego kit?
also what is a good beginner books for robotics for him?

hi, what should i buy for my cousin if he already has nxt, i want to give him something that he can expand and compatible with his nxt. note his nxt is not the mindstorm v2, probably v1. tks.
Hi,
In my opinion LEGO 8547 Mindstorms NXT 2.0 Robotics Kit is best gift for any child who is around 10 -16 age. LEGO’s Mindstorms seems very popular in children . It makes new robot models day by day. They used advanced technologies and they also used so many attractive colors those children are like. I launces 2.0 toolkit which have all features that a children need to create his or her robot within in 30 minutes.
LEGO Mindstorms uses graphical software so there is no actual lines of code to be written. Age 13 is about the right age to start using the Mindstorms software. OLLO’s interface is also straightforward and it uses a microcontroller, motors and sensors. However, the OLLO microcontroller is not as powerful as the one used in LEGO. If you want to “add to his LEGO kit”, Mindstorms is the way to go.
It is important to note though that LEGO is sold out due to a very large demand until 2012 so if you want it as a gift for the holidays, you will need to wait.
Unfortunately, we do not have any other large LEGO kits besides the LEGO MindStorm kit, however we do have a variety of third party sensors and accessories which greatly enhance Mindstorms. You will find here all LEGO compatible products: robotshop.com/ProductSearch.aspx?qs=lego
