Friction between small support posts and turntable with Lynx

hi, everyone,

so, i have been working with the Lynx6 now for almost a year. great little robot and i really like the motors that come with it.

however, recently, i have been noticing that i am getting a lot of unwanted friction from the little posts that support the turntable. i spray wd-40 between the two, but that wears off after a spell.

would there be a way of getting some kind of small ball-bearing up there?

suggestions are very welcome!

thanks!

Hello Craig,

You don’t need to use an oil, but instead a grease. A white Lithium grease that is used in hobby motors and gears will work well. The hex standoff tripod isn’t the ideal solution, but it is economical and suitable for hobby applications. We just released an all metal arm base that is ball bearing equipped! lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=88

This is really nice!

The new base could be the answer to the problem! However, I tried to find links for packages of the new metal robots, but there is nothing like you have for the L5 and L6 lexan versions. It would be really nice if you had packages of parts to assemble a metal robot, too.

The reason we have no pre-packaged kits for the aluminum robots is that there are pretty much unlimited configurations. However, for most of the aluminum bots pictured in the “What Can I Build?” page, we have parts lists.

From here you can go to the Assembly Guide for the aluminum arm made with tubing, and get a complete parts list for this specific configuration.
