Force Sensor question

Hi everyone,

I have a simple question concerning the “Capacitive Force Sensor 15 mm 4.5 N (1 lbs)”.
I would like to measure a force (really low between few gramms to maxi 100 gramms).
Is it possible to buy a “Capacitive Force Sensor”, then connect a “Phidgets Voltage Divider” and finaly connect a voltmeter ?
I don’t want to go deep in suing a software and coding just have a value that I can correlate to the pressure I apply on the sensor.

What do you think ? Is the “Capacitive Force Sensor 15 mm 4.5 N (1 lbs)” a good choice for this application ?
Do I need something else than the “Phidgets Voltage Divider” to have a usable signal ?

Thank you very much.
Hopefully I wrote this question in the right section.
Cheers
A.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

The Capacitive Force Sensor is already some kind of ‘‘Variable Voltage Divider’’.
See the wiring inside the instructions manual: https://www.robotshop.com/media/files/pdf2/singletact_manual.pdf

You will need this interface to plug directly the setup to a VoltMeter: https://www.robotshop.com/en/capacitive-force-sensor-electronics-daq-analog-i2c-output.html
