For some reason I cannot get Flowbotics to connect to my SSC32U with Bluetooth Bee v2.
To Test I have a clean SSC32U with nothing connected to it besides power and a Bluetooth Bee v2.
On the SSC32U I configured the baudrate to be 9600.
I put Flowbotics into auto connect and it starts trying to connect.
At one Comport it actually finds the Bleutooth Bee and for a few seconds indicates found while at the same time the green connection led lights up on the Bleutooth bee.
After a few seconds the indication found in Flowbotics stops indicating a connection and the green connection led isn’t lighted anymore.
So what could be wrong?
Hi eriklely,
First, could you please tell us which FlowBotics Studio app you are currently using?
If it is one of the Lynxmotion apps, then you should have a small Bluetooth icon / button in the bottom right corner next to the port drop-down list.
This button needs to be activated (icon colored in blue) for the software to know you are using Bluetooth to connect to the SSC-32U.
Second, can you test again the app with the SSC-32U & Bluetooth module making sure the Bluetooth icon is active / blue?
We await your answer to investigate your issue further.
Sincerely,
I did enable the bluetooth button in Flowbotics but forget to mention it in my last post. So no luck on the bluetooth button unfortunately.
I am using Flowbotics version 3.0.7 and the SQ3 quadruped app. I did not make any changes to the app.
Hi Eriklely,
It seems you may be having a problem with the Bluetooth connection itself. Did you pair the Bluetooth Bee with your computer properly?
When you go under “Control Panel” > “Devices and Printers”, you should have a few devices listed there.
Is one of them called “Bluetooth_Bee_V2” ?
If so, could you double-click this device and browse to the “Hardware” tab (at the top) and check the “Device functions” (middle of window).
It should list a “Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM??)” (where ?? is two digits). Could you tell us what COM port number it is using?
If all of the above is available, please try our debug utility, LynxTerm. You can download it at:
lynxmotion.com/images/files/ … trm111.zip
Once installed, run the software. When you first run it, it may automatically connect to a port. Make sure it is disconnected and click “Setup” in the top left corner.
Choose the right port (found in the steps above) and choose a “Baud rate” of 9600. Then, click “Ok” and click “Connect”.
In the black windows, type “ver” (without the double quotes) and press “Enter”. If connected properly to the SSC-32U, you should receive a response such as “SSC32-V2.50USB”.
Does this work?
We await your reply to further investigate your issue.
Sincerely,
I did pair properly and I have a comport for the bluetooth module. Using Lynx terminal I can see it does connect because I can see the green led on bluetooth bee is on. However it does not communicate i.e. does not respond to the VER command in Lynx terminal. By now I start to suspect the module is broken. I wouldn’t know what else could be wrong.
Thanks for all the support BTW!
I also had a pair of XBees lying around and I managed to connect Flowbotics to my Quadruped using these. The Bluetooth Bee seems to be non functional.
Hi Eriklely,
Can you try your Bluetooth Bee module again using this utility (free):
robotshop.com/en/ssc-32-serv … =RB-Dsp-07
You can also check the SSC-32U for its baud rate by pressing the button next to LED A / B (see attached image). It will then display a code for the baud rate on the LEDs. Code is the following:
Green only = 9600
Red only = 38400
Green & red = 115200
Neither = custom baud rate
Let us know what result you get from using the SSC-32 Servo Sequencer Utility with the Bluetooth Bee and also what is your SSC-32U’s baud rate.
Sincerely,
I have tried al 3 defined baudspeeds: 9600, 38400 and 115200 with the sequencer application.
It gives me about the same reaction as lynxterm or flowbotics. It starts the connection and I can see both the found indicator in de app as the green led on the bluetooth bee light up green. But then after a few seconds it gives me: ‘serial port timed out’. It seems like the bluetoth connection is working, but the serial port over the bluetooth connection is not.
Is there anything else I could try besides ordering a new one?
Hi Eriklely,
Could you please remove your Bluetooth Bee module from the SSC-32U and try to connect using a USB cable instead?
Connect using the LynxTerm utility and enter the command “ver” followed by pressing return. Do you get a response?
Let us know if it works.
Sincerely,
I can connect succesfully to the SSC32U in several ways. USB is working and via 2 Xbee’s, one attached to the computer and the other to the SSC32U. So no problems there. Everything working except the Bluetooth Bee.
Hi Eriklely,
Since your SSC-32U is working fine by USB and you confirmed its Bee socket to be functioning too, we recommend that you replace your Bluetooth Bee with a new one.
We do not see that you purchased the Bluetooth Bee with us, though if you did, feel free to contact us via the Support Center and we will see if it’s still under warranty and can be exchanged.
We carry a few Bluetooth Bee modules and you can browse them at:
