Flashing Yellow on Litter Robot when its dark

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering with my litter robot 3. I recently replaced the sensor and everything had been working great for maybe 2 months. Now, for some reason at night, and only when its dark, the litter box will get stuck and blink with yellow lights. I turn the lights on, it starts up again. I shut them off, it stops. And I can keep repeating. I have videos I could provide also. Any ideas?

Hello @marlanakennedy,

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Please provide us with your order number.

Please test if the night light is interrupting your cycle. Cover the light sensor which is located under the power button. If the night light turns on and the cycle is interrupted, then your bonnet needs to be replaced.

It is possible that the night-light is not even working, in this case, please remove the power from the robot and unclip the bonnet. Inside the bonnet, you will see 2 wires connected to a small circuit. Make sure the wires are well connected to the circuit.

If that is working fine, then the problem is probably with the connection between the base and the bonnet. Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyUuSGSgn1A&t

Also, there are two connection metal pins between base and bonnet. Some customers use WD-40 to clean them to make better contact.

Please tell us how this goes.

Sincerely,

Hello @marlanakennedy,

Thank you for your reply.

That’s great to hear, let us know if you needed further assistance.

Have a lovely evening, stay safe.

Sincerely,

Just wanted to add that I had the same odd behavior where it seemed like the night light sensor was being treated as the cat sensor. The only difference is that my night light was working but I still had the same issue. I unplugged/re-plugged the night light wires and cleaned and reset the bonnet connections and it is working normally again. I’m guessing it was a loose bonnet connection even though mine looked pretty clean. I also split apart the center conductors of the power port a little bit more though don’t know if that was a problem.

Hello @sepecat,

Thank you for your reply.

Usually, the nightlight issue comes from either the loose connections or dirty contact pins so cleaning and checking these two parts should fix the issue.

Let us know if you needed further assistance.

Have a lovely day, stay safe.

Sincerely,
