Flashing lights and cycling problem

Hello!

Our LR 3 is about 3 years old and problems are now beginning. The problems started when the waste drawer was too full and ruined the DFI, totally our fault and absolutely no problem. Since then the cycling got bad. At this point the 3 LEDs are lighting up (all 3 possibilities, Blue-Yellow-Red / Red-Yellow-Blue / all 3 at the same time). When it cycles it stops again and again and sometimes the light stops flashing for a very short amount of time as if the power supply was faulty. Most of the time the red light stays on and then it doesn’t cycle. I am very close to giving up troubleshooting.
Order Number: 804945

Can anyone help me and tell me what to do?

Here are the things I did for troubleshooting:

  • change DFI

  • change pinch detector

  • flip magnets

  • check the pinch detector for debris - none found

After I did all of this, I flipped the magnets back because the LR3 startet cycling in the wrong direction. That was a couple of days ago, I had to stop because I was so angry that nothing worked. Today I flipped the top magnet and checked the cables at the electronic panel. Before I did all of that I pressed “empty” - the globe did rotate the right way but there were many many abrupt stops. Then after dumping the rest of the litter it cycled back and then it stopped. I pressed “reset”, it cycled a bith further but then it stopped again. Then I switched it off and did the things I described (magnet flip, cable check). After reassembling the robot the cycling was still very abrupt, also all 3 lights flashed. To my understanding I have to flip the other magnet as well but I am pretty sure that it wouldn’t make sense because then it would turn in the wrong direction again.
I am really desperate at this point because our LR3 is only 3 years old and I don’t want to buy a new one just yet.
Maybe someone can help

Thank you guys in advance

Hello @Loooiiisl ,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

To troubleshoot this issue, please follow the steps below:

1- Make sure that the power supply adapter is original and contains the following information: Input: 100-240V~50/60 Hz 0.4A or 0.5A, Output: 15V 1.0A or 1000mA. If you have any doubts, please feel free to send us a photo of the specifications indicated on the power supply adapter. *Please note to never use a non-original power supply adapter with the Litter Robot, as this can cause electronic problems.

2-Make sure that the motor gear is securely fixed to the motor shaft. If you find that the black gear is loose when you press it with your finger and move it repeatedly back and forth, please follow the instructions below to tighten the fastening screw:

3-Make sure you have the appropriate amount of litter in your globe. Do not exceed the fill line indicator. If there is too much litter, the globe will not be able to find its rotation point because an excessive load will prevent the cycle from being performed correctly.

4-If you have previously disassembled the globe in order to clean it or replace the PVC liner, it’s possible that the globe’s magnets may have been moved, reversed or even fallen off, preventing proper positioning during globe rotation. Please check the attraction of the two magnets on the globe (see photo). The magnets should be attracted to a magnetic object (EX: a magnetized screwdriver, magnets, etc.).

If none of the above steps resolves the issue, please send us photos of the 3 sets of contact pins. 2 are located on the base and 1 is on the side of the bonnet. (See photo)

Awaiting your response,

Best regards,

Hello Ebram, thank you very much for your very fast reply.

1 - We use the original power supply adapter and it says exactly what you wrote. Also I checked the cable if my cats bit it but it seems perfectly fine

2 - I tightened the screw but that was not the problem. When I put on the hood to try to let it rotate, the blue lights flashed, as well as the yellow light. I made a video, I can attach it if you wish. I really think that there is a power supply problem inside the system.

3 - We always put litter max to the line, most of the time it is below the line.

4 - The magnets are where they should be. As I already wrote, I switched the magnets first and then the globe cycled into the wrong direction. Then I switched both back. After that I just switched the upper one (Dump Position Magnet) and still the lights flashed (all 3 of them).

Photos will be attached. I cannot take a photo of the pinch sensors because my partner removed them a couple of days ago.

Best regards,
Lisa

Hello @Loooiiisl ,

Thank you for your reply.

We are positive that the 3 sets of pins must be replaced.

As for the issue with the motor, it’s more likely to be coming from the circuit board so you can start by replacing the circuit board first.

If it didn’t fix the issue, you can return the circuit board and order the motor instead.

Here’s the link to the circuit board:
