First Timers Book On Remote Controls

Hello Forum!

I am new to LMR! this is my first forum post! I am in need of a book on how to build remote controls. Not looking for bot building yet! Just trying to get a background in the field. Decided that this is going to be my new hobbie! I would actually like to build my own remote control so the book should have that information too. If anyone knows where I could get parts for remotes then that would be good too. Thanks in advance

You can buy number pads like this one at various online places to make a remote control. You need to figure out how the signal is transmitted and at what frequency to make it work with a TV. http://194.201.138.187/epages/Store.storefront/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Store.TechSupplies/Products/SEN040

I would go for SIRCS

I would go for SIRCS protocol (SONY’s protocol) as it is really well documented

here is a picture I took this week while playing with IR : http://users.skynet.be/fa953029/LMR/rc_signal.jpg

Generating that kind of signal should really not be a problem (altough the 38.5Khz carrier will have to come from a 555)
