SVG? I don’t know what that is. Can you produce JPG or PDF files of your drawings, ideally full size, with all the appropriate dimensions? Then they could be simply re-drawn in CAD. You probably want DXF files. I’ll bet we have a few guys/gals here who could draw them for you!
By the way, you DO have a very interesting multi-level design!
It is what inkscape uses for a file. Got my calipers out. asked a couple of questions. Designed new legs. I added a support system that will allow the sensors to mount into the legs properly and a “hidden” shelf for led’s to sit. Plus a bit of eye candy to the legs to help reduce the weight at the same time. If i could i would do more but its the limit right now.
I can do the pdf. if anyone is interested but i need to add a lot of dimensions to it. On the bright side more time for perfecting the code right?
Any other export options? I haven’t used CorelDraw in ages! How did you generate CAD files for getting the plastic parts cut? DWG (Autocad) is another popular format.
I see HPGL, I worked with that format many years ago. It drove my little HP7475 Pen plotter. I had a lot of fun with that. Somewhere I have a conversion program from HPGL to DXF, I think. Would still need some critical dimensions, then the resultant file could be scaled appropriately, if needed.
Could work! Maybe generate a sample HPGL file, and we’ll take a look. No promises!
I was able to open up the DXF file with my CAD/CAM program. My CAD of course treats it a little funny, but it works.
Your plastic shop took these plans, I’d think the sheet metal shop would as well. Might want to draw on a few pages, and add dimensions. I’m sure the shop would appreciate that.
Yeah, I’ve heard of the term, but I’ve never worked with them. Maybe my CAD is too old! Funny, it draws the arcs like I normally see them, but when I go to find the center, It doesn’t find it. And if I do an offset (like to generate a tool path). I get an arc broken up into many, many pieces.
So I’m not sure (yet) how to work with them. How did they cut your parts? Maybe a newer/different CAD program. What does your metal shop want?
Not sure on the metal shop. I have heard good thing on Big blue saw, but still need to source one.
On a Better Note: FK
I finally wrapped my mind around it. Absorbed it. And got the right output to do it. Now on to the IK. I do plan on using the engine Xan wrote. But i need to understand it so i can use it. know what i mean?
Yes, I understand! Quite a bit to wrap one’s mind around. I’m struggling to get my IK working for upright (mammalian) legs, as apposed to sprawled (insect) legs.
order is complete from lynxmotion when it gets to my brothers house he will punt it my way. Hopefully it ships today. (hint hint but i know your moving to a better place).
All the odds and ends should be here before that. only thing left to “finish” is the code.
sjwaller said he would email me his port of Xan code so i can see what messed up on mine.
What to do in the mean time?
Tomorrow i will do a complete tear down and photo shoot of the build process. how is that?
