Hi, i have been having trouble powering my servo motors from arduino mega 2560 due to fractuation of voltage/current, opting an external power supply , i got 5v for my servos but without enough current to drive them , how do i step up my current and maintain the same voltage for my 6 servos?
Hi,
Even if driving only one servo, it is always recommended to use an external power supply for servos. Six servos running simultaneously can be quite demanding on the current depending on how they are driven. They can need anything from 1-2 amps to more than 6 amps. This powerful 5V power supply could be used, but we cannot guarantee it will be a perfect fit for your project. You could also use multiple power supplies and drive 3 servos per power supply if it is not enough for your application.
To make servo connexion easy and clean and avoid having to cut wires, we have this Arduino IO Expansion Shield which has a separate power input for the servos.
We hope this helps, let us know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
