I was searching for a Lidar sensor for my bachelor thesis project and I found two products , I wanted to know what is the difference between these two ??
[RB-Rpk-03] --> 199$
[RB-Rpk-01] --> 336.75$
please specify each product and the package contents and will I need extra tool to make them work correctly like certain wires , supports or modules ??!! and why this huge difference in price and if one of them has more tools with it will I need them for sure to make it work or these tools are extra options ?? please specify the clear difference between each one of them.

The RB-Rpk-03 is the updated/improved version of the RB-Rpk-01. It features a more stable design that lasts longer. We strongly recommend to purchase the RB-Rpk-03.
The sensor itself, adapter cable, adapter board. You will need a proper DC power source for this device. Typically, is uses 500 mA or less, but there are cases where it may need up to 600 mA and under powering the device will cause failure (typically it wont startup properly/report data). You can see the details in the datasheet on page 10 available on the product page under Useful Links.
When RB-Rpk-01 was originally released, this series of product was starting and the costs were still quite high. Since then, the production volume has increased significantly and better design has reduced the costs for manufacturing the product immensely (as you pointed out). We basically only keep the older model in stock for customers who designed products specifically for the older model and cannot use the new one. For new customers starting out, the RB-Rpk-03 is the way to go.
As mentioned above, they are both the same product, but RB-Rpk-03 is the newer version.
