Exoskeletons

Hi,
I am trying to make an upper body exoskeleton suit to augment the human power, its intended applications are related to weight lifting. I would like it to be powered by pneumatic rather than electrical power. The problem I face here is that these pneumatic actuators need air compressors to work with and the compressors I have seen in my labs are quite big. Since the purpose of this suit is also to carry the weight over long distances, I would like to know if there exists lightweight portable air compressors to power the above mentioned actuators.

Any suggestions and opinions would be of great help.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

That’s a quite interesting project you are planning to make. But as you have already mentioned, the challenge would be to find/build the smallest and lightest air compressor that can appropriately power your pneumatic actuators.
We unfortunately don’t offer such air compressors. We do offer this VIAIR 12V 120 psi Air Compressor which won’t be powerful enough to drive the actuators. For example, Sebastian Torres-Wilcken, the maker of this Pneumatic Exoskeleton project used a 3000PSI high pressure air tank instead of a compressor.
Hope this helps and wish you good luck with your project

Thanks a lot!!
