Ethernet over usb

hello,
I would like to use the “16A 20 Channel Intelligent Relay Controller” product robotshop.com/en/16a-20-channel-intelligent-relay-controller.html], it is controlled via a Ethernet connection, but i need to controlle it via a USB connection , so my question is : if there is a way to use ethernet over USB ?
thanks

Hi,

While it is technically possible to use a microcontroller to interface an Ethernet connection to a USB port, this would not be a simple project and require a lot more work than simply obtaining a relay board that works by USB instead.

We recommend that you have a look at the products available on our website from Devantech here. Here are a few that may be useful for your project:

]RB-Dev-53, Devantech 8-Channel, 16A Optically Isolated USB Relay Module/:m]
]RB-Dev-28, Devantech USB-RLY16, 16Amp, 8 Channel Relay Module/:m]

We would be able to offer better advice if we know more about your project. Is there a specific reason why you cannot use an Ethernet interface? What is being used to control the relay board (a computer, a microcontroller, etc.)?

Sincerely,

thanks
in fact , i need a 16 ampere USB relay board with more than 16 channels, i can’t use a Ethernet interface because i have only one network card in my computer, in fact i found a solution but i am not sure about it, i can use a USB to Ethernet adapter as shown in this video youtube.com/watch?v=58esMusXxMA ] to create a second local network which i can use to control the relay module.

sincerely,
Hicham

Hi Hicham,

You do not have to connect the board directly to your computer’s Ethernet port. You could also connect the board to a wireless/wired router or Ethernet switch/hub. Would that be a possible option?

Using a device to provide an extra Ethernet adapter through a USB connection is also possible option.
