ESP8266 connection to Arduino Leonardo

Hello,
I just purchased your ESP8266 shield and followed the WiFi shield tutorial on your website and was not able to get the ESP8266 to work. After performing all of the steps the output read on the terminal was “Cannot initialize ESP module” and then “WiFi shield not present”. Do you have any ideas?

Hey Paul,

We assume you are using the RB-Mkf-14? If that is the case, then all the information we have available is already on the product page (schematic, examples, instructions, sample code and tutorials). You can get those on the product page under Useful Links.

The best would be to reply with detailed images of your setup, making sure to show clearly all components and connections (add annotations for clarity, if needed).

You can add images in Full editor mode. See the attached image for details.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, it is the rb-mkf-14 and I was able to get it going. The instructions regarding the jumper selections were not correct for the Leonardo.

We are glad that you were able to resolve the situation.

Would you mind sharing how your setup of those jumpers differs for the Leonardo to get it working? This would be especially useful for the RobotShop community in case someone has a similar issue in the future and finds this forum topic.
