To day I received the ‘Elexol 8 Channel Opto I / O Board 3-24V DC / AC’ I thought it was an input board like this:
3-24V DC / AC inputs screw terminal
3.3V dc outputs 10p connector
So I connected it like this: 4stepsahead.nl//assets/images/opto_in.jpg
But the led doesn’t light up nether become’s the input high.
When I connect the 10p connector to an 3.3V output channel the led lights up.
It seams to be an 3-24V DC / AC output board instead of an input board?
Like this:
3-24V DC / AC outputs screw terminal
3.3V dc inputs 10p connector
Can you tel me how to connect it like an 3-24V DC / AC input board?
I supposed it changed between 3 and 24V DC / AC. But with 5Vdc it doesn’t, with 12Vdc it doesn’t but with 24Vdc it works perfect!
Only the 1st and 8th channel are switching at the same time (They are connected some where) so I can only use 7 channels but that is no problem for now.
The configuration that you have put up in your picture looks correct. In order to use the board you have to make sure that the 5V and GND pins on the 10 Pin box header are connected. The 5V rail is supplied to the opto couplers and this is what is swicthed when the opto coupler is activated by the voltage applied at the screw terminals. This in turn will then turn on the LED.
I have attached a schematic of the board to make the above explaination a bit clearer.
Also I noticed that you are wanting a 3.3V DC output on the 10pin box header pin, you can drop the 5V supply rail to the box header to 3.3V to achieve this. Note the LED’s on the board will be slightly dimmer if you use this configuration.
If you have any more questions or problems with the configuration then please let me know.
The inputs into the terminal screws should work on any value between 3VDC to 24VDC. I am not sure why you are not getting the input to work on other voltages. Would it be possible for you to post a better diagram of your setup?
