Electric Sprinkle Wheel

Hello,

Building a sprinkle dispensing wheel for my ice cream shop based on 1950’s mr krunch sprinkle dispenser except much larger. I had someone build me a version, but it broke on day 1, and I need advice on what type of motor will be strong enough to spin a 36 inch wheel, and how to anchor the wheel from coming off the shaft.

Need advice!

Hi @szabar and welcome to our forum!

Can you tell us which motor is currently inside this project? If possible, provide us with product code or datasheet.

My first idea would be to get similar one but with much more torque.

@igor_X they are using a 12v 12rpm motor that looks pretty puny. What would you recommend that has more torque? The board it’s spinning is probably 36 inches in diameter and weighs a lb or two.

Thank you,

Sasha

Hi @szabar ,

Thank you for the details.

I’ve used this online calculator to calculate torque:

I’ve got following result:

For example, this looks like a motor used in your application:

Specifications says that maximum torque is 70kg.cm so it could explain why it broke, so I guess you need something stronger.

Maybe you could try with this one:
