You’ll need a DC gear motor. 3Nm = 424oz-in. You’ll likely need a planetary gear motor. You would need to choose one whose maximum RPM meets your needs, as you can always use a motor controller to change the speed and direction of rotation.
What RPM do you need?
Also keep in mind you want to use the motor’s continuous torque rating, not the stall torque rating. Depending on the motor and application the continuous torque is going to be about 20%-30% of stall torque.
Hello!
I´m a part of a fire evacuation robot project on behalf of my university. I´m looking for an electric motor which can generate a torque of minimum 3 Nm, can rotate continous in both clockwise and counterclockwise direction, and can be powered by 12 V battery. Do you have any idea or recommendation on where I can find an electrec motor like this?
Kind regards

I have decided to order this motor: robotshop.com/eu/198rpm-1200-oz-in-planetary-gearmotor.html
Ohiorobotclub: Thank you, the stall toque of this engine is ca 8.5 nm. So I suppose it will have a continous torque between 2-2.5 Nm. I will try and see if it is sufficient =)
