Ebay brackets

url deleted…

Some of these brackets look a bit SES’ey

Is he a distributor?

This sure is a questionable post and website.

url deleted even shows a link to one off Zenta’s original phoenix vids. Can’t find “lynxmotion” on there site though…

I did not see a link to Zenta’s video on that page but I will say that I would never do business with any website from India. There are too many scammers, from email scams to steeling designs, media, etc. for resale.

It’s on the part number deleted servo controller page.

It a Chinese rip off of the SSC-32, right down to the firmware. I’m taking down all the open source BS now and forever. I’ve deleted the url’s as I don’t want to help anyone find these bastards!

Is it possible to take steps against them? I mean you could send ebay a mail…

I think it’s hard to get there site down though but getting them from ebay is a start though.

I’m investigating the possibilities.

No problem, anyone buying a rip-off version needs their head read, I just thought there may have been some link to LM as even the naming of the components were so similar.

Feel free to delete the thread entirely.

I looked at the users manual for the apparent ssc-32 clone and don’t see the four chips that are associated with the servo banks.

in the manual the ssc-32 board looks completely different, however, the firmware might be a copy. It even has a sequencer software that looks like a clone as well.

Double sided board… :unamused:

Kinda reminds me of those guys in the Phillipines that were doing the same a while back. They did respond to LM, if I remembered, to stop selling those (not sure if they ever followed through).

The problem with foreign entity is, you can stop their distribution here in the US, but you really can’t stop their distribution elsewhere (you can if you really wanted to, but it just fiscally doesn’t make sense). Plus, some countries have VERY loose law on what is “copyright infringement” and what is not…

I know that many on this forum have seen rip-offs from time to time (Like the PM I sent ya Jim  ). But most, if not all, who use this forum orders directly from LM, Trossen (who is an authorized distributor), or Robotshop…

Both my bots and parts were ordered directly from LM so I know they are genuine LM  The problem with using non-genuine mechanical brackets and parts is that they are often made of “Mystery” metal or some would call “metal of the week.”

If you ask a vendor “What kind of aluminum” and all they can say is “it’s a shiny aluminum” you gotta be aware…

If you ask a vendor “what type of steel is this?” and they come and say “it’s steel, they’re all the same” you gotta be aware…

You can’t stop people from plagiarism, it’s going to happen, but we, LM fans, can refuse to support these cloners…

Tom, that WAS a while back, July '09! ;>)

And I agree.
