Good day.
I’m very interested in such smart servos
(robotshop.com/en/dynamixel-mx-12w-smart-serial-servo.html), because they have 4096 steps absolute encoder, however, I couldn’t find it on the Dynamixel official website.
Is it still available and being produced?
And actual technical question is about MX series servos backlash error. I didn’t find such data for gearboxes of Mx-28 and Mx-12 models.
But if it’s higher than encoder resolution then the maximum accuracy will be defined by backlash error.
So could you please help me with that data?
Best regards, Stanislav,
Hi O4karitO,
Welcome the RobotShop forum.
Here is the online manual about the MX-12 servo:
It seems to be still available from our supplier.
There is nothing said about the backlash on that servo.
We might be able to ask them but most of the time they don’t have the specification when they don’t put it in the product description.

Thank you for the fast reply.
It would be nice. Because there is data about backlash error for some models of Dynamixel servos.
Please let me know if you get any additional info.
Best regards, Stanislav.
We just contacted them by email, once we have information we will get back to you here…
Hi O4karitO,
Sorry to have to give you bad news but the manufacturer doesn’t have the backlash information.
They might not have done any documentation on that.
We are not aware of any customer complaints regarding backlash, and have found that the manufacturer, Robotis, provides high quality smart servos
All the best,
Thank you for letting me know.
Best regards, Stanislav.
