Just wondering if I can connect this RFID reader to AC mains or is a converter required?

Hi @pennyyy and welcome to our forum.
It is not possible to connect this RFID reader directly to AC mains.
It’s nominal voltage is 3.3V DC, so you need a converter.
Where do you plan to install this reader?
Thank you for the help, I plan to connect it with a circuit that goes to a mains supply socket… The circuit also includes an RGBW strip and either a DC or AC 3RPM geared motor . Should I be using an DC motor since I will need a converter anyways for the RFID receiver?

You will definitely need a converter, so yes, use DC motor.
Take care of how much is the nominal power of your components, and based on that, choose appropriate voltage converter.
