I’m designing an RC servo or stepper controlled heavy-duty pan & tilt camera mount. The GWS RB-GWS-32 system should work, but does it require a controller board for the servo or stepper motors, in addition to the RC receiver? The project is more automation than robotics, and I hope to make this work without getting into microcontrollers. I realize that the system for controlling motors is different from the system for controlling linear actuators-which are also a possibility-but for the moment I’m looking at motors. Besides,Firgelli seems to offer a turnkey solution.
If a separate controller board is required, e.g., for a stepper motor, how do I match the board with the RC receiver?
You can simply use a servo along with the RC receiver and a power source, no need of additional controllers.
If you use a stepper however then you will need a stepper motor driver and a microcontroller in addition. The microcotnrolelr would be connected to teh RC receiver and decode the RC commands, to the instruct the stepper motor driver on how much to step and in which direction.
