Do you have to have matching ohms when using

an external potentiometer? I bought a DSS-M15S servo for a gimbal and for some reason the pot that was part of my old gimbal set is not playing good with the servo. Servo is all over the place. For that particular servo do you have to have a matching external pot to the value that was for the pot internally within the servo? Kind of new to this entire thing. Thanks!

Typically you should. What are the values?

No idea. How would I even test it?

Bump. Would like to get this sorted out… thanks.

No one?!?!?

Unfortunately we do not sell the DSS-M15S servo to know the specs of the internal potentiometer.
Can you measure the original potentiometer in terms of min/max resistance?

Very likely a 10K pot.

sounds like you’re going to open the servo up to change the connections to the pot, it should be marked.

Servo city has instructions for building a geared servo, might help:

Bump.
