Do you have good eyes? - Do you like puzzles?

Hi Everyone,

First of all, let me say that I posted this under General Electronics, but it is for a CH3-R hexapod with a Bot Board II, SSC-32, Wireless PS2, and Blue Smirf, so if it fits better under one of those topics, please feel free to move it.

In this thread:
lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?t=3231&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

There is a diagram of adding a DPDT switch to choose between the DB9 port on the SSC-32 and the Bot Board II.

I decided to take it one step further, and set it up so that I can use a DPDT and a 4PDT switch to do the following:

DPDT Switch (Power):
Position A (Master Power Off)
All Power Off

Position B (Master Power On)
Power on to SSC-32 (Both 9V to VL and 6V to VS)
Power on to BlueSmirf (If 4PDT is in position A)

4PDT Switch (PC via BlueSmirf / Bot Board II with PS2 receiver) :
Position A (Connect to PC via BlueSmirf for MSRS / Sequencer use)
Kills power to Bot Board II
Shorts 115.2 pins on SSC-32 for BlueSmirf
Sends Power to BlueSmirf
Switches BlueSmirf TX to SSC-32 RX

Position B (Connect to Bot Board II with PS2 receiver )
Supplies power to Bot Board II / PS2 receiver
Opens 115.2 pins on SSC-32 (Makes it 38.4) for Bot Board II
Kills power to BlueSmirf
Switches Bot Board II TX to SSC-32 RX

Here is a wiring diagram as well as a few pictures I took of the actual wiring harness I made (The tape was to hold the harness down for photographing  ):

Notes:
I have not drawn or shown in the diagrams the following 2 items, but will be using them:

  1. PS2 receiver (Will be on when Bot Board II is on)
  2. 6 “Leg Lightsâ€

Hmmm…

77 Views and almost 30 hours later and no posts :frowning:

I guess everyone is as busy as I am

I just got it all integrated and it applied power!

It works just fine with the Bot Board II selected, and I suspect it will be the same with the BlueSmirf (It’s still not here).

I’ll post an update when it gets here…

Hi kmc123,

You really know how to build a puzzle indeed. I’ve quickly seen the post and my reaction was: who I love to help the guy out but this if far from a quick answer and I don’t have more time at the moment… sry…

I’m using a couple of 8.4V, 200mAh rechargeable battery for the logic. I need about 1,5 batteries on one evening so I assume it gives you juice for 2 hours. Just a rough estimation. But what I normally do is apply wall power to the logic to stop me from running out of batteries.

What you have to keep in mind is that the BlueSmirf uses a lot of power! I used the BlueSmirf in combination with the SSC and BAP when I used the Wii remote. It cuts life in half.

The SSC has a few feedback options that need the RX wire. You need to think about asking if the SSC is done and reading the state of the analog and digital inputs of the SSC. So you need to ask yourself if you’re gone use them. If not, you can forget about the RX wire for now
BTW: I’ve got the RX wire connected, I used it before but I’m not using it right now.

I hope this helps!

Xan

It does help - Thanks Xan!!!

Just an FYI - I have the BlueSmirf now, and it all works as expected! VERY cool!

Wow! This is serious business. :stuck_out_tongue: I just decided to go with SSC32 and Bluetooth and cut out the middleman but your work here is impressive.
