I’m actually just completing one. I used the batteries, charging/power harnesses and motors from a Jet 3 Ultra power chair.
I Made a couple of designs before my final creation. Here’s a video of it driving around.
I repurposed much of the square tubing and brackets from the power chair. I bought a couple of heavy duty 90 degree brackets to bolt the motors onto the back of the mower.
I studded the tires as I will be using mine to cut my ditches.
I’m having some control issues as witnessed by the thread I started in this section of the forum.
I’m currently using a Sabertooth 2x25 motor controller but we’re still trying to figure out if that is the correct one.
I found a used power chair and mower for the project to keep the costs down. I’m still figuring out a way to incorporate a remote kill for both the motors and the mower as both are very important to have an remote e-shutdown. I’m leaning towards a linear actuator and tying the battery disconnect together with the throttle/engine brake lever of the lawnmower so both can be killed at once.
I’ll keep you posted on what I decide to do. If you have any ideas I would appreciate if you could share them as well.
