Hello! I am building a tracked robot and I want to use the Lynxmotion 9T sprockets (paired) and 2" tracks. I am going to make the chassis of CNC aluminum with holes for shafts on the sides, therefore I need to calculate a distance between these holes so that an integer number of links could be installed. Because of the uneven number of the teeth, I don’t understand how does the distance depend on lines number. Thanks!
We offer user-generated CAD files of the sprockets and tracks here: lynxmotion.com/s-5-ses-3d-models.aspx#tracks
The 9-tooth sprocket can have 9 track links around its circumference. Knowing how many links will be above and below, you can get an estimate of the center to center distance.
One catch is that there’s a certain amount of “play” between the track segments, so a tensioner is ideal if you can add one.
If not, we propose ordering the tracks and links and once received, pulling them tight to get an idea of how much play there is and adjusting your design accordingly.
Would love to see your finished design!
