Dissasembling a HS-422 Servo

Hey guys,
I was wondering how I go about pulling the circuit board out of a Hitec HS-422 Servo. I want to get access to the other side of it.
Anyway, I have pulled the back off and taken the gears off but the board won’t budge. Is it soldered in or should it just come out?

Thanks

You can try pushing on the output shaft from the motor or the pot shaft. Or try carefully wiggling the board outward with a tiny flat screwdriver. The motor is snuggly fit into the case so that is what holds it in so firmly. It shouldn’t be soldered or glued in though.

I just opened a new 422 to see inside. At least the ones I have are the same as before, the motor is connected to the PCB via two wires, it’s not soldered directly to the PC board. Here is an image.

I’ve opened three standard types of servos, Futaba, Hobbico, and Towerhobbies. Note that in all three of these, the motor and pot are directly soldered to the board (no wires). The Futaba had two little screws near the motor gear that held the motor to the case. The other two didn’t have these. The Futaba had a little snap clip inside the case that held the pot snug against the top. I don’t think the other two had this. The motor has somewhat of a press fit into the case. Work the motor and pot out together. The way I got the insides to slide out was to first push down on the pot shaft to get it to move out a little. Then, while carefully pulling out on the motor side of the board, I use a very small flat tip screw driver on the gear end of the motor to carefully pry it down, being careful to not break or damage the the little plastic gear cover. This is usually enought to get the motor to start moving out. Then I continue to work the pot and motor out together.
