Discovery 4210 doesnt return back to base when battery is depleted

I bought a replacement battery and a new (used) home base from EBAY and when I perform the docking procedure (clean and spot together) it has no problem docking. When I run the clean cycle it will run until the battery is depleted, and will never make it back to the base.
Is there any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Hi Duke51,

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum.

You may want to first try cleaning the metal contacts on the underside of the robot and also on the home base.

If that doesn’t help, then try spraying compressed air up underneath the robot’s bumper in the middle of the bumper. You can also try cleaning the small cylindrical projection on the top of the bumper, the corresponding part on the home base, and wipe down the front of the home base, where you’ll see a black transparent plastic oval.

If the problem still persists after cleaning the above, then it could be the battery too; if the battery doesn’t have enough charge in it when the robot determines it needs to be recharged, it may not have enough time to find and return to the home base. How long does your battery run for? You can test this by telling the robot to do a max cleaning and by not plugging in the home base.

Changing the position of the home base can help too; make sure it’s placed in an open area the robot can easily get to. If not, you may have to try it in a different position and see if it makes a difference.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
