Dirty water depth measuring with lidar

i need to measure the water depth(not based water surface) which is dirty with lidar vlx but not working.
is there any sensor which measure water depth in laser familiy or any?

Hello @samudrala!

I do not suggest using anything optic based to measure distance in a particle heavy environment.

You will definitely need to use a sonar like this one:

i am having one doubt related to ping sonar.is this work without contacting water surface?

This won’t work unless you put it in the water. Sound and light travel at different speed in water and in air and most likely will reflect on water surface.

I don’t know if any kind of equipment can do that.
