Whats the difference between the below mentioned motor controllers?
Type A. Sabertooth 2X5 Regenerative Dual Channel Motor Controller
Type B. Sabertooth 2X5 R/C Regenerative Dual Channel Motor Controller
**From what I see in the description of the products, Type A has more control capabilities than Type B. Am I seeing it like that or are there more differences ?
Also can someone suggest which one to buy
I have ordered some LM parts to make a tracked robot using the 2" tracks. The robot will be completely autonomous and will also contain a gripper arm, wireless camera and IR/ultrasonic sensors.
I already have the SSC32 controller and will be using my own custom controller board with touch-screen LC display unit.
As soon as I have some pictures I will open up a project thread.**
Yep, I think it is like the 10amp versions in that the non R/C has more options for controling the controller, like a simplified serial protocol. One other difference is the wiring that comes out of them. I think the RC version has the servo wires already part of it where as the non RC you need to supply your own wires.
I think the Tri-track kits come with the RC version, so I would probably order that one.
Well seeing that the non-RC has more control options I think that I will go with that one. The cables are not a problem for me, I can make those very easily.
Has anyone had any experience with the non-RC unit and what modes are you using to control your tracked bot?
The non-R/C version just offers more control options, which is why it costs more. I always favor more flexibility in devices so go with the ones that have more possibilities and features even if I may never use them all. I have a Sabertooth 2x5 non-R/C model and it works very nicely using PWM control.
I see that is the case for the 2X5 models now. It didn’t used to be that way. The 2X10 model for non-R/C costs more than the R/C only version though. Since the 2X5 models cost the same now, it makes no sense to me at all for someone to buy the R/C only version.
