Difference between Lidar HOKUYO UST-10LX and HOKUYO UST-10LN

Hi there,

Some of you know some details about the difference between the both model ? HOKUYO UST-10LX and HOKUYO UST-10LN
I don’t understand what is the difference.

Moreover, I found on the hokuyo website it existe a model which UST-10LX-H01
It should have a better angular resolution. But I don’t have any provider for it. Have you any idea where I can find it ? Or maybe it’s a software licence to buy to improve the performance ?

Thanks for the help

Hey @theoriz!

They’re essentially the same LiDar but with different communication protocols.
The UST-10LN can work with USB, RS422 and has more inputs/outputs :https://www.robotshop.com/media/files/pdf/hokuyo-ust-10ln-scanning-laser-obstacle-detection-sensor-datasheet.pdf Page 3

The UST-10LX is defined by it’s ethernet connectivity: https://www.robotshop.com/media/files/zip/documentation-ust-10lx.zip

Hey @theoriz

The LX models allows for distance measurement in a 270° arc. The LN models instead have up to 3 configured areas and toggle outputs if they detect objects in those pre-defined areas.

The LX is most likely the model that you want as this is what is most helpful in DIY robotics, SLAM, etc. The LN model is more useful for general object/collision avoidance and defining safety areas around the sensor.

They are not actually the same. See details above.
