DFrover

Good morning: I have received a RB-RBo-089 ( Speech control Kit with a rover ) but I have a problem:
In the first time, the interface with mounted over Arduino 2009 e Arduino uno received , is a expansion board x 2 ( CRB -DFR-71 but is a different with a Sparkfun interface was indicate in youtoube guide for assembled) ;
I have respected ( see instruction for arduino module and CRB-DFR-71 ) new indications for assembled this new module, but i have a troubleshoting when uploading a software included in DRobotshop rover RB-RBo-89 and specified:
I have assembled (over a Arduino mounted in Rover pcb ) a interface I/O ( CRB-DFR-71 ) with a XBee RB-SPA 110 (but this Xbee is supported from CRB-DFR 71 see XBEE pro ??? ) and uploading but is not possible because occured an error. But programming only arduino ( arduino for trasmitter and aRDUINO for received ) without I/o and Xbee mounted, uploading is OK; but if mounted the expansion and XBee after programming Arduino however does not work .What is a problem?
Help me if possible and sorry for my english.
Paolo

Sorry, I have a solution for my Question.
In effect, a XBEE mounted with USB interface and displayed in DFROVER manual, is wrong.
This manual displayed a module XBEE, with chip antenna mounted in same direction of input USB. This a mistake because XBEE must be mounted at revers of picture. In this position a df rover works perfectly.
Thanks Robotshop for admission of mistake.

Hi Paolo,

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. Although the main languages for this forum are English and French, you are free to also post in Spanish and we will translate accordingly. In order to get started, you should first follow the procedure to setup and use the DFRobotShop Rover on its own via the USB cable, without the speech recognition kit or XBee modules. Next, you can add the XBee modules and treat it like the DFRobotShop Rover XBee kit. The last step would be to add the speech recognition module (which is the most complex). The XBee modules included are not the Pro version. The XBee shield was upgraded to RB-Dfr-71 since it is more versatile. There are no software or hardware modifications which need to be made - it is plug and play. The silkscreen indicates XBee Pro, but that is just aesthetic; it is compatible with both versions. You cannot upload code with the shield connected. Note that you also need to upload code to the other Arduino board as well. Both systems need to work well for the Rover to react to speech. Last, the speech recognition module can be “picky” at times about the sounds, so you may need to repeat in different ways.

Hope this helps,

Hi pizzaopa,

The manual is correct, but shows an old USB to XBee board from V1.0. We will correct the image in the next manual revision. We are happy to hear your board works now and look forward to seeing what you create with it.

Sincerely,
